Police: Agu-Ifite Attack Aimed at Ethnic Tension

The Anambra State Police Command, represented by Police Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga (SP), announced that the recent attack on residential settlers in Agu-Ifite was part of a deliberate criminal scheme aimed at inciting ethnic tension and disrupting peace in the state. In a press statement released on Wednesday, Ikenga noted that the people of Anambra have shown unity and tolerance, resisting divisive ethnic narratives.

Following the attack, a Joint Security Team was deployed to the scene for assessment and to engage with community leaders and affected settlers. Intelligence gathered from survivors has led to intensified operations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The police urged the public to remain calm and vigilant, emphasizing their commitment to protecting all law-abiding residents of Anambra State, regardless of ethnic or religious background, and assured that efforts would be made to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
