Manhunt Launched After Gunmen Kill Four Herders in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has commenced a manhunt for gunmen responsible for the killing of four herders and the arson of two houses in Agu-Ifite, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State. The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, resulting in the death of several cattle and instilling fear within the community.

Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, the National Deputy Director-General of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers not only killed the herders but also butchered cattle and set homes on fire before fleeing towards Mgbakwu. One herder managed to escape, and reports indicate that the attackers had begun butchering cattle prior to the arrival of security forces.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the fatalities and stated that Commissioner Ikioye Orutugu has ordered a thorough investigation. Siddiki condemned the attack and urged for enhanced security measures in the state.
