Qua’an-Pan LG Bans Unauthorized Herders' Settlements

The Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State has implemented a ban on the settlement of unauthorized herders migrating into the area. This decision was announced by the Chairman, Dr Christopher Manship, during a stakeholders' meeting with traditional rulers and leaders of Miyetti Allah at the Felix Dakyap Guest House, Doemak.

The council aims to prevent criminal elements from infiltrating the area under the guise of pastoral migration and to maintain peace. The directive prohibits herders from settling without the consent of host communities and warns against grazing on cultivated farmlands.

Manship urged the herding community not to harbor individuals fleeing from other locations after engaging in criminal activities. The Long Pan, Nda Miskagam Jerom Leklat, praised the proactive measures and called for community vigilance.

The Chairman of Miyetti Allah in Qua’an-Pan, Alhaji Sai’du, also commended the inclusive approach taken by the council.
