Plateau Group Supports Ban on Unauthorized Hisbah Activities

The Plateau Vanguard for Democracy has expressed its support for Governor Caleb Mutfwang's directive that prohibits the activities of an unauthorized Hisbah enforcement group in Jos North Local Government Area. National Coordinator Chris Ishaku stated that no private organization has the constitutional authority to intimidate residents or enforce rules not recognized by Plateau State law.

The governor's intervention was deemed necessary to uphold public order and individual liberty. Ishaku emphasized that support for the directive should not be seen as opposition to any religion but as a commitment to a unified legal system.

The organization called on community leaders to discourage participation in unlawful activities and advised residents to report any misconduct to the police. Ishaku welcomed the governor's instruction for security agencies to investigate those involved, urging them to act professionally and protect innocent residents.

He asserted that peace cannot exist where competing groups impose conflicting laws, advocating for justice and tolerance within Plateau's diverse community.
