Aune Heggebo Banned for Two Matches Over Handball Goal

Aune Heggebo, a forward for West Brom, has been suspended for two matches after being found guilty of 'deliberately deceiving' a referee during a Championship match against Norwich on Saturday, where he scored a goal that clearly hit his arm. The incident occurred in the second half of the game, which West Brom won 2-1.

The Football Association (FA) charged Heggebo under rule E3.1, and despite his denial of the charge, an independent regulatory commission upheld the decision after a hearing. West Brom argued that the ball had ricocheted off Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul before hitting Heggebo's arm, claiming it was an unfortunate handball.

Following the ruling, West Brom expressed their support for Heggebo and indicated they would seek clarification from the FA on how players should react in similar situations. Heggebo's suspension means he will miss two upcoming Championship fixtures for West Brom.
