Australia Introduces New Visa for Graduate Families

Australia's Department of Home Affairs has announced the Temporary Graduate visa (Subclass 485) Second Post-Higher Work stream, aimed at eligible graduates who hold a Post-Higher Education Work, Post-Study Work, or Replacement visa and obtained their degree from an Australian institution in a regional area. This visa allows successful applicants to live, work, and study in Australia for one to two years, with the duration linked to the regional location of their institution and current residence.

Applicants must be 35 years old or under at the time of application, be physically present in Australia when applying, and have previously held a Temporary Graduate visa under the Post-Higher Education Work or Post-Study Work stream. The visa also permits family members to join the holder in Australia for its duration.

The application fee starts at AUD 2,265 (approximately ₦3.6 million), with reduced fees available for eligible citizens from Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste.
