Australia Sets Five Conditions for Visitor Visa Eligibility

Australia's Department of Home Affairs has published five essential conditions that foreign nationals must meet to qualify for the Visitor stream of the Visitor visa (subclass 600). Firstly, applicants must satisfy Australia's health and character requirements.

Secondly, individuals who owe money to the Australian government must either fully repay the debt or establish a formal repayment arrangement before applying. Thirdly, applicants must demonstrate financial self-sufficiency, showing they have sufficient funds to cover their costs during their stay without relying on public resources.

Fourthly, the visa is granted only to those who exhibit genuine visitor intent, meaning they must intend to stay temporarily and comply with visa conditions. Lastly, for applicants under 18 years of age, the visa may be denied if it does not serve the child's best interests.

The visa allows holders to engage in specific business activities, attend conferences, and partake in tourist activities, but prohibits any work for Australian businesses or direct sales to the public.
