Australia Sets Business Visitor Visa Guidelines

Australia's Department of Home Affairs has released official guidelines for foreigners holding a Visitor Stream visa (subclass 600). The guidelines specify that visa holders may engage in general business inquiries, negotiate contracts, attend conferences, and conduct activities related to official government visits.

However, they cannot receive payment for participation in events. Visa holders must complete an Incoming Passenger Card, comply with Australian laws, and check their specific conditions using the Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO).

Importantly, they cannot work for or provide services to Australian businesses or sell goods directly to the public. Those needing to perform short-term work outside these activities must apply for a temporary work visa.

The guidelines clarify that the visa cannot be extended, and holders must apply for a new visa to remain in Australia beyond their permitted stay. Changes to personal details must be reported to the Department of Home Affairs.
