Ruling House Backs Leaders, Rejects Removal Claims

On Wednesday, the Grand Council of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, passed a vote of confidence in its leadership, specifically supporting Chairman Abdulateef Owoyemi, Deputy Chairman Oladokun Ajidagba, and Vice Chairman Prof Fassy Yusuf. This decision came in response to their purported removal due to allegations of financial inducement and manipulation in the selection process for the new Awujale of Ijebuland.

The ruling house condemned the fact-finding committee that announced the removal as a “kangaroo committee” and labeled its members as “usurpers and impostors.” The council dismissed the allegations as baseless and accused the opposing group of attempting to damage the leaders' reputations. Owoyemi stated that the family would pursue legal action for defamation against the group.

He also mentioned that the family had previously reconciled three factions with the help of the Ogun State Government, leading to the current leadership structure.
