Fusengbuwa Ruling House Appeals to Governor Over Breakaway Unit

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has formally written to Governor Abiodun concerning a breakaway unit that they allege could undermine the unity of the ruling house and disrupt the nomination process for the vacant Awujale stool. The petition was signed by key leaders including Chairman Otunba Abdul Lateef Adebayo Owoyemi, Deputy Chairman Otunba Oladokun Ajidagba, Vice Chairman Professor Fassy Adetokunboh Yusuf, and General Secretary Pastor Prince J.

Bola Salami. They described the breakaway unit, led by Prince Adeleke Adeyemi, as illegal and lawless, claiming it has engaged in activities that challenge the authority of the recognized leadership.

The petitioners noted that the three recognized units had successfully conducted a nomination exercise on January 16, 2026, and expressed concern that the breakaway group is attempting to seek recognition from the governor to legitimize their actions. They urged Governor Abiodun to resist any attempts to divide the ruling house and emphasized the support for the recognized leadership among the majority of members and the people of Ijebu-Ode.
