Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Becomes NBA President

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has officially assumed office as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Her tenure began with a tour of the NBA House alongside her predecessor, Afam Osigwe, SAN, the 32nd president.

The tour included introductions to staff members and a farewell that symbolized the transition of leadership. Following the tour, Badejo-Okusanya and her team commenced their administration with a prayer before engaging in official duties.

She held an interactive meeting with the NBA National Secretariat staff to initiate the implementation of her vision for the association. Badejo-Okusanya was elected in the 2026 NBA national officers’ election, receiving 12,317 votes (47.18%) against Lateef Akangbe's 7,934 votes and Olumuyiwa Akinboro's 5,855 votes.

The election faced technical challenges and a cyberattack, with results announced on July 19, 2026. Badejo-Okusanya is the second woman to lead the NBA and the first to be directly elected by its members.

She pledged to prioritize the economic wellbeing of lawyers and announced the formation of an election reform committee.
