Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Elected NBA President

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya was elected as the next president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) after polling 12,317 votes, which accounted for 47.18% of the total 26,106 ballots cast in the election held through electronic voting. She is the only female among the three candidates and will be inaugurated at the Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt from August 21 to 28.

Badejo-Okusanya's victory makes her the 33rd president of the NBA and the first elected female president in its 66-year history, following Priscilla Kuye, who served from 1991 to 1992. The outgoing president, Afam Osigwe, will hand over to her during the conference.

Badejo-Okusanya aims to restore public confidence in the judiciary and promote the rule of law and human rights. However, her election faced controversy as her opponent, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, alleged irregularities in the voting process, claiming it was a "catastrophic structural and technical collapse.".
