Adamawa Governor Fintiri Declares Mourning for Tukur

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state announced a three-day mourning period following the death of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, an elder statesman and prominent son of Adamawa, who passed away on September 13, 2026, after a prolonged illness. The announcement was made in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, and distributed to journalists in Yola.

Fintiri expressed his condolences to Tukur's immediate family, political associates, friends, and the people of Adamawa state, describing Tukur's death as an irreplaceable loss. He highlighted Tukur's roles as a former governor of Gongola state during the Second Republic, minister of industry, and PDP National chairman, emphasizing the significant void his passing has created.

The governor praised Tukur’s courage, foresight, patriotism, wisdom, and lifelong commitment to public service, stating that his contributions would be greatly missed by both the people of Adamawa and Nigeria.
