ADC Candidate Calls for Action Against Sokoto Insecurity

Manir Dan’iya, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Sokoto State, has called for immediate government action to address escalating insecurity in the state. He highlighted issues such as the displacement of residents, abduction of women and girls, and destruction of communities.

In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, Dan’iya demanded that the state and local governments account for over N1.2 trillion in Federation Account allocations received, questioning how much has been allocated to security and humanitarian efforts. He cited the displacement of residents from areas including Girkau, Romon Liman, Romon Sarki, Margai, and Masu, with many fleeing to Tambuwal town.

Dan’iya echoed concerns from Amnesty International regarding the situation and criticized the APC-led state government for its inaction. He urged security agencies to enhance operations and called for an emergency response framework to assist displaced families and restore access to farms and markets.
