Bandits Abduct 20 IDPs in Sokoto Amid Renewed Violence

In Sokoto, bandits abducted around 20 internally displaced persons (IDPs) during a raid near Jabo town around 11 AM. The attack occurred as residents were attempting to return home after spending several weeks displaced.

Sources confirmed that the assailants also rustled an unspecified number of livestock. The victims fled back to Jabo upon seeing the bandits.

Displaced residents are currently seeking shelter in public schools and along major roads due to renewed violence. Abubakar Muhammad, a victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds during a previous attack in Babban Rafi village, expressed frustration over the government's neglect, stating that no officials had visited to assist with medical bills.

Another victim, Muhammad Sahabi, was shot while transporting grain when the bandits attacked. The Sokoto State Police Command's spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufa, stated they had not yet received a briefing on the incident but assured that further details would be provided once available.
