Police Rescue 32 Kidnap Victims in Sokoto Operation

The Sokoto State Police Command successfully rescued 32 individuals who had been abducted by armed bandits in Maikujera Village, Rabah Local Government Area, on Tuesday morning. The operation commenced following a distress call at approximately 8:30 a.m. regarding a large group of bandits moving with livestock and hostages.

The Divisional Police Officer of Rabah mobilized tactical teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Violent Crime Reaction Unit, and coordinated with a nearby Army Forward Operating Base to establish blocking positions. Upon arrival, the security forces engaged the bandits in a gun duel, leading to the bandits abandoning their hostages and fleeing.

A search operation resulted in the rescue of all 32 victims, which included six adult males and 26 females, primarily children. The rescued individuals are receiving medical and psychological support, with plans for their reunification with families.

Tragically, four people were killed by the bandits during the initial attack. Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, expressed condolences and assured ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing bandits.
