Bandits Kill Four in Gorau Over Relief Funds

On Wednesday at around 9pm, bandits attacked the village of Gorau, targeting families who had received N1 million relief donations from the Sokoto State Government following a recent boat mishap that resulted in 65 fatalities. The village head, Alhaji Aliyu Magaji Na-Batsami, confirmed that the assailants went from house to house searching for the relief money.

During the attack, they shot 11 individuals, resulting in four deaths: Bashar Sani, Ila Malam Makeri, Isa Ibrahim, and Ali Aminu. Seven others were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The attackers also abducted four residents. Na-Batsami expressed gratitude for the swift response of security operatives, who arrived in four vehicles and pursued the bandits, preventing further casualties.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of bereaved families and the security of the relief funds provided to them.
