Terrorists Kill Four, Abduct Four in Sokoto Community Attack

On Wednesday night, suspected terrorists attacked Gorau community in Goronyo Local Government Area, Sokoto State, resulting in the deaths of four residents and the abduction of four others. The attack occurred around 9 pm, just six days after a boat accident in the same community that claimed 65 lives.

DSP Ahmad Rufai, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto State Command, confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers opened fire on residents. Alhaji Aliyu Magaji Na-Batsami, the village head, reported that 11 residents were shot, with seven surviving and receiving hospital treatment.

Na-Batsami alleged that the attackers specifically targeted families who had recently lost loved ones, searching for the N1 million relief funds provided by the Sokoto State Government to bereaved families. The attack has intensified the grief in Gorau, where residents are still mourning the victims of the boat tragedy, amid rising security concerns in the Goronyo Local Government Area.
