Sokoto State Donates N100m to Banditry, Boat Accident Victims

The Sokoto State Government has provided over N100 million and 408 bags of assorted food items to families impacted by banditry and a recent boat accident in Wurno and Goronyo Local Government Areas. This intervention was announced on Monday during a visit by a government delegation led by Senator Aliyu Wamakko, the state APC leader and former governor.

Families of seven victims from a bandit attack in Dinawa received N1 million each, along with food items, while injured victims were given N250,000 each. Similar assistance was provided to families in Birjingo and Gorau, where 65 people died in a boat mishap.

Wamakko, representing Governor Ahmed Aliyu, expressed condolences and emphasized ongoing government support for security agencies, including the provision of 62 armored vehicles. He urged community cooperation with security forces and called for prayers for divine intervention.

The governor also directed measures to prevent boat overloading, a significant factor in accidents.
