Bandits Kill Chief Imam and Two Others in Sokoto Attack

On a recent afternoon, bandits launched a coordinated attack on the Danchadi community in Sokoto State, beginning around 4:00 PM and continuing until 6:00 PM. The assault resulted in the deaths of the Chief Imam and two other individuals, whose identities have not yet been confirmed.

Local sources reported that the attack triggered mass displacement, with many residents, mostly women and children, fleeing on foot to safer areas in Bodinga. The assailants also rustled a large number of livestock, although the exact figures remain unverified.

A senior police officer, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the attack and noted that a mobile anti-kidnap unit was dispatched to the area due to fears of a potential return by the bandits. DSP Ahmad Rufa, a spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, stated that he had not yet been briefed on the incident but promised to provide updates following inquiries.
