Bandits Kill Chief Imam and Abduct Women in Sokoto

In the early hours of Thursday, bandits attacked a village in Sokoto, resulting in the death of Chief Imam Liman Audu and the abduction of several married women. The attack began around 12:58 AM and lasted nearly two hours, during which sporadic gunfire caused panic among residents, prompting them to flee for safety.

Witnesses reported that the attackers went house to house, abducting mostly married women, while three individuals were injured, suffering gunshot wounds to the chest. The deceased, Chief Imam Liman Audu, was identified alongside Hasanu, Zahara, Azu Ibrahim, Dayyabu, and others.

The attack marked the 11th incident of violence in the community, raising serious concerns about the ongoing vulnerability of the village despite repeated appeals for increased security. Efforts to obtain comments from the Sokoto State Police Command were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered.
