Bandits Attack Sokoto Community, INEC Staff Reported Abducted

On Thursday morning, bandits attacked Girkau village in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State. During the incident, an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff member was reportedly abducted, and a resident was allegedly killed.

The Sokoto State Police Command, represented by spokesman DSP Ahmed Rufai, stated that they were aware of the attack but had not confirmed the abduction or the death. DSP Rufai mentioned that they would contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area to ascertain the situation and verify any casualties.

As of the time of reporting, details surrounding the attack, including the circumstances of the reported abduction and killing, remained unclear. This incident is part of ongoing security challenges in rural Sokoto State, where armed bandits have frequently carried out attacks, leading to restrictions on movement and adjustments in daily activities for residents due to security concerns.
