Bandits Displace Over 100 Communities in Kaduna State

In Kaduna State, over 100 communities have been displaced following persistent attacks by bandits, affecting six local government areas: Shiroro, Kachia, Kajuru, Kagarko, Chikun, and Birnin Gwari. The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union, represented by National President Tabara Kato, reported that 35,402 residents have been displaced, while former spokesman Luka Binniyat claimed the number of affected communities could be as high as 245.

The most recent attack occurred on July 26 in Naridon Village, Kauru Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 villagers, including eight children. Kato attributed the violence to land grabbing and resource control, alleging that armed attackers are sponsored by individuals aiming to displace indigenous communities from areas rich in mineral deposits.

He emphasized that many communities have been overrun and renamed by invaders. Kato urged the Federal Government and security agencies to investigate the sponsors of the violence, asserting that merely arresting suspects will not resolve the crisis.
