BATMEDICS Provides Free Eye Care for 500 Abuja Drivers

BATMEDICS, a support group for President Bola Tinubu, sponsored free eye screening, medications, and corrective surgeries for approximately 500 commercial drivers and motorists in Abuja. This initiative, held on Thursday at the Abuja Medical Store to commemorate World Sight Day, was organized in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Petra Akinti Onyegbule, the National Director of Research, Media and Strategic Communication of BATMEDICS, stated that the exercise aimed to enhance access to eye care among commercial drivers and promote road safety. Ojeje Onimisi, the Director-General of BATMEDICS, emphasized the importance of regular health checks for drivers, whose jobs require good eyesight.
The organization committed to funding necessary medications and surgeries for those diagnosed with serious visual impairments. The FRSC's Assistant Corps Marshal, Ibrahim M. Bazama, praised the initiative as a preventive measure to identify vision-related risks.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity to access essential eye care services.
