BATN Foundation Launches Poultry Project in Lagos

BATN Foundation has initiated a poultry development project named "Chicks to Plate" in Lagos, targeting the training of 200 prospective and existing poultry farmers. This project is a collaboration with the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority and aims to enhance food production and create livelihoods.

The initiative will provide practical training in modern poultry production, farm management, and agribusiness. Additionally, 40 layer farmers will receive enterprise support to expand their businesses.

This project is part of an eight-year partnership that began in 2018 with the "Fingerlings to Fork" program, which trained 1,436 fish farmers in aquaculture. The Lagos State Government aims to increase local food production from 25% to 50%, as stated by Commissioner Abisola Olusanya.

The program also addresses operational challenges faced by farmers and includes training on biosecurity and modern production methods. Executive Director Oludare Odusanya emphasized the importance of equipping farmers with practical skills and tools for sustainable agricultural development.
