Bauchi CJ Inaugurates Local Government Election Tribunals

On Wednesday, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, the Chief Judge of Bauchi, inaugurated the State Local Government Election Tribunals, Appeal Tribunals, and the Right of Way Mobile Court. She charged the tribunal members to perform their duties with impartiality, independence, and fidelity to the law.

During the inauguration, she congratulated the appointees, highlighting their competence, integrity, and commitment to justice. The tribunals are tasked with adjudicating disputes arising from the upcoming local government elections in Bauchi State.

Justice Umar emphasized that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done, urging tribunal members to resist any form of pressure or influence. She reiterated the judiciary's critical role in democracy and the necessity for public confidence in the electoral process.

The Bauchi South Tribunal and Special Court will be located at the State High Court premises in Bauchi, while the Bauchi North Tribunal will be at the High Court premises in Azare, and the Central Zone Tribunal will be at the Magistrate Court premises in Ningi.
