Bauchi Governor Urges Flood Preparedness for August

Bauchi State Governor Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has instructed relevant agencies, coordinated by the Project Implementation Office of Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), to take proactive measures in anticipation of severe flooding forecasted for August. This announcement was made by Dr Ibrahim Kabir, the Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, during a One-day Stakeholders Engagement on 2026 Flood Preparedness and Response held on Tuesday.

The flooding is expected to impact 1,662 communities, 125 schools, 101 health facilities, and eight markets across eight local government areas (LGAs) in the state. Dr Kabir noted that the Governor's directives included engaging various ministries such as BASEPA, the State Ministry of Environment and Housing, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

The stakeholders meeting aimed to ensure communities are informed and prepared to evacuate from flood-prone areas. Dr Kabir urged local leaders to promote awareness and proactive measures to mitigate the flooding's impact.
