World Bank and Nigeria Launch ACReSAL Financing in Bauchi

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project began its Joint World Bank and Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Hybrid Additional Financing Pre-Appraisal Mission in Bauchi State on September 7, 2026. This initiative aims to enhance climate-resilient agriculture and land restoration across northern Nigeria.

The project is recognized as one of the best-performing in the World Bank’s portfolio, with plans to expand its impact across 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory. The mission's objective is to assess the Federal Government’s readiness for formal appraisal of the Additional Financing window.

The Bauchi segment, running from September 7 to 11, includes direct evaluations and policy dialogues with local leaders. Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, represented by Deputy Mohammed Auwal Jatau, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to the project, highlighting the importance of partnerships with the World Bank in addressing climate change challenges and the state’s readiness to provide necessary counterpart funding.
