Governor Mohammed Criticizes Opposition for Poll Boycott

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed condemned opposition political parties that boycotted the local government elections held on Monday, describing them as cowards who feared losing. After casting his vote at his polling unit in Dan Kungibar, Bakin Dutse District Head’s Office, Yalwan Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area, he stated that the opposition should have participated to test their popularity.

He noted that the election was a crucial opportunity for political parties ahead of the 2027 general election, asserting that no party could succeed without voter support. Mohammed praised the peaceful atmosphere during the election and reiterated the state government's commitment to democratic governance, allowing citizens to exercise their rights.

He highlighted the significance of local governments in state development and expressed confidence that the election would yield capable leaders. The governor also commended the qualifications of candidates, many of whom held postgraduate degrees, and mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance local government autonomy and resources.
