Baze University Enhances PhD Programme with Reforms

Baze University has implemented significant reforms to strengthen its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme, aiming to enhance the quality and credibility of doctoral education. These reforms were approved by the University Management and the Board, led by Chancellor and Founder Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.

A key change is the reclassification of the first year of the PhD programme to a Provisional PhD Studentship Year, where students will hold provisional status during their first two semesters of coursework. They must complete intensive doctoral coursework and successfully defend their research proposals to be upgraded to PhD Candidate status.

The doctoral phase will require the submission and defense of a thesis of 80,000 to 100,000 words. Additionally, the university will recruit distinguished professors from Nigeria and globally to co-supervise doctoral theses, enriching the academic experience.

Baze University has also introduced the Chancellor’s Prize for the Best PhD Thesis and an annual award for the Best Published Lectures of the Year to recognize outstanding scholarship.
