Nigerian Army Chief Urges Officers to Drive Change

At the graduation ceremony of the Leadership and Strategic Studies Course (LSSC) 4/2025 at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) in Abuja, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff and chairman of NARC's Board of Trustees, challenged senior officers to act as agents of positive institutional change. He emphasized the necessity for officers to apply their knowledge to enhance planning, decision-making, and operational effectiveness.

The COAS congratulated the graduates for completing 11 months of rigorous training and urged them to view their graduation as a call to greater responsibility and improved performance. He noted that modern security challenges, such as terrorism and cyber threats, require innovative responses.

Additionally, he mentioned the expansion of the Nigerian Army's force structure and the increasing demand for well-prepared officers. Maj. Gen. James Gwaza Khalifa Myam, director general of NARC, stated that the LSSC is designed to provide higher-level education for senior officers, culminating in a Master’s Degree and Fellowship in Leadership and Strategic Studies.
