Ben Kalu Triumphs as Chijiok Chukwu Becomes APC Chairman

In a significant political development, Ben Kalu has outsmarted Orji Kalu as Chijiok Chukwu was elected the new chairman of the Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the state congress held on Tuesday in Umuahia. Chukwu, a former minority leader of the Abia State House of Assembly, was elected alongside Chidi Avajah as secretary and Emeka Okoroafor as state organizing secretary.

The new executive emerged through a consensus arrangement, which was described by party leaders as a demonstration of unity. Emmanuel Goar, the chairman of the congress committee, and Donatu Nwankpa, the APC national welfare officer, supervised the process.

Chukwu pledged to work towards uniting party members and reconciling grievances to strengthen the APC in Abia ahead of the 2027 general elections. The congress emphasized grassroots mobilization rather than reliance on social media platforms, marking a strategic shift in the party's approach.
