20 Kidnap Victims Freed in Benue After N8 Million Ransom
In Benue, 20 individuals who had been kidnapped were released on Thursday night after a ransom of N8 million was paid. The release occurred in a forest along the Otukpo-Ogbadibo road, near the Kogi State border, following several days in captivity.
Simon Igidi, whose wife was among the abducted, informed journalists in Makurdi that the freed victims arrived in the city around midnight and were immediately taken to hospitals for medical attention. An elderly woman among the victims was released on the same day they were abducted and returned home in Tyomu on Monday evening.
Igidi further revealed that the remaining 19 victims regained their freedom after the ransom payment and the provision of food items. The group of released victims included eight women from Tyomu, three from Vandeikya, and nine others from the Wurukum area of Makurdi.
