Aondoakaa: Alia's Win Tied to Akume's Influence

Michael Aondoakaa, a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, asserted that Hyacinth Alia, the current Governor of Benue State, would not have won the governorship without the backing of George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Speaking on Arise Television's morning show, Aondoakaa highlighted that Alia, a Catholic priest, did not possess an independent party structure prior to the election.

He stressed the necessity of party discipline and loyalty, warning that internal disputes within the All Progressives Congress (APC) could jeopardize the party's chances in future elections. Aondoakaa noted that the APC operates with an organized political structure nationwide and that Benue State cannot operate in isolation.

He cautioned that any internal pressures within the party should not escalate to distort the party's chances in upcoming elections, emphasizing that the group that produced the current governor must maintain unity and discipline.
