Benue Governor Alia Pledges 620,000 Votes for Tinubu

On February 2023, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia pledged to deliver a minimum of 620,000 votes for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This pledge aims to double the 310,468 votes Tinubu garnered in the 2023 presidential election, where he won by a margin of 2,096 votes against Peter Obi, who received 308,372 votes.

Alia made this declaration during a meeting with Tinubu at Aso Rock, accompanied by former Governor Gabriel Suswam, who has aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC). Alia expressed confidence in the APC's prospects in Benue State, traditionally a stronghold for the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He also discussed the current security situation in the state, the status of internally displaced persons, and the agricultural season. Alia's visit to the presidential villa served multiple purposes, including providing updates on these issues and reinforcing the APC's position in the state.
