Benue Police Arrest More Suspects in University Don's Murder

The Benue State Police Command has reported new arrests connected to the assassination of Professor Gabriel Saawua Nyityo's younger brother, Iornge John Nyityo. The police confirmed that the investigation has extended beyond the principal suspect, with additional arrests made.

Cletu Nwadiogbu, the police commissioner, disclosed that the police received a distress call on July 8, leading to the recovery of two bodies and the arrest of 23-year-old Abdullahi Usman in Nasarawa State. Usman attempted to evade security by dismounting his motorcycle and walking across checkpoints.

The police also dismissed rumors of bandits blocking the Makurdi-Lafia highway, stating that patrols found no evidence of such attacks. The police command has recorded several successful operations in June and July, including the arrest of ten suspects involved in the killing of two Fulani leaders and the recovery of firearms and stolen motorcycles.
