Police Arrest Suspect in UNIJOS Graduate's Mob Killing

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old male, Yusuf Christopher Beskeni, in connection with the mob killing of Ibrahim Mbaya, a graduate of the University of Jos. This arrest is considered a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into Mbaya's death, which occurred on July 27 after he was allegedly tortured by a mob over accusations of theft.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Alfred Alabo stated that preliminary investigations suggest Beskeni played an active role in the unlawful assault, specifically participating in tying Mbaya to a pole while he was tortured. Beskeni is currently in police custody and assisting investigators, while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects who remain at large.

Acting Commissioner of Police DCP Usman Sheikh Adamu assured the public that justice would be served and that all individuals involved in the incident would face prosecution. The total number of suspects in custody has now risen to five, as the police urge the public to provide any information that could aid the investigation.
