DSS Arrests Three More Suspects in Kidnap Case

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested three additional suspects connected to the kidnapping of Professor Samuel Avengbe Okunsebor, the Dean of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University. The arrests took place on Friday night at a local brothel near Mararraban Akunza along the Lafia-Makurdi highway.

This development follows the rescue of Okunsebor, who was abducted on July 15, 2026, at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Areas. The three suspects, identified as 25-year-old Yakubu Abubakar (also known as Black/Starboy), 37-year-old Usman Abubakar Mairiga, and 27-year-old Sale Babauro Abubakar, are currently in custody for further investigation under a valid detention warrant from a magistrate’s court.

The latest arrests bring the total number of apprehended individuals in connection with the incident to five, although the identities of the two earlier arrested suspects remain undisclosed.
