Benue Scholar Proposes $3.7B Diaspora Investment Trust for Economic Development

Dr. Peter Atorough, a Benue scholar, suggests establishing the Benue Diaspora Investment Trust (BIDI Trust) with a $3.7 billion investment to drive economic growth in Benue State.

The trust aims to leverage the financial power and expertise of the diaspora community for large-scale development projects. Atorough's proposal includes two investment models – one for SMEs and mini-projects and another for high-net-worth individuals and corporations targeting major infrastructure and energy ventures.

Inspired by successful diaspora investment models in Kerala and Ethiopia, the BIDI Trust seeks to transform Benue's economic landscape through sustainable and transparent investments.
