Teenager Dies from Snake Bite at Benue IDP Camp, Healthcare Challenges Exposed

Chagu Terhemen, a teenager at the Agagbe Internally Displaced Persons camp in Benue State, died from a snake bite while on a farm visit. The boy's father, Kyomke Mbapupuu, raised the alarm, but traditional treatment failed, leading to his death.

The Benue State Emergency Management Agency revealed an MOU with Benue State University Teaching Hospital for IDPs' medical care. The victim was to be transferred for treatment.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs was informed. The incident highlights the challenges faced by IDPs in accessing adequate healthcare in Nigeria.
