Gboko Traditional Rulers Demand Action Against Kidnapping

The Gboko Area Traditional Council, led by HRH Gabriel Gbanongun Shosum, convened a high-level security meeting on Thursday with the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to address the increasing incidents of child kidnapping in Gboko, Benue State. The traditional rulers pledged their cooperation in strengthening community policing efforts.

HRH Shosum praised the Nigeria Police for their prompt actions that resulted in the arrest of key suspects involved in recent child kidnappings. Among the arrests was an unidentified woman accused of abducting a newborn at the Comprehensive Health Clinic in Gboko.

HRH Shosum instructed that all suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and prosecution. He also ensured that the mother of the kidnapped child received necessary medical care.

The meeting aimed to foster collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies to enhance safety for vulnerable children and restore confidence among parents in the community.
