Biafra Day: Ejiofor Remembers Igbo Losses in War

On May 30, Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), marked Biafra Day by recalling the significant loss of life among the Igbo people during the Nigerian Civil War from 1967 to 1970. He emphasized that this date serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by millions of innocent civilians, predominantly of Igbo descent, who perished due to starvation, displacement, and mass killings.

Ejiofor called for a moment of reflection among the Igbo people, urging them to withdraw from distractions and divisive issues to honor the memory of the fallen heroes. He highlighted the importance of preserving historical truth against attempts to distort the narrative of the civil war, particularly referencing the need for moral courage in confronting the past.
