IPOB Declares May 30, 2026, as Day to Honor Heroes

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) announced that May 30, 2026, will be observed as a sacrificial day to honor the fallen heroes and heroines of the Biafran War, which occurred from 1967 to 1970. IPOB's spokesperson, Comrade Emma Power, stated that this day is meant to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who defended the dignity and rights of the Biafran people.

The organization emphasized that the remembrance is not a political ritual but a solemn vow to honor those who paid the ultimate price. IPOB highlighted the extraordinary resistance of the Biafran forces against a combined military power, which included support from foreign nations and mercenaries.

They criticized the Nigerian government for attempting to silence the stories of these individuals, asserting that the sacrifices made should not be reduced to mere footnotes in history. The declaration serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for recognition and rights for the Biafran people.
