BIPC Urges Benue Students to Acquire Skills for Success

On Tuesday, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, the Managing Director of the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), addressed tertiary institution students in Benue State, emphasizing the importance of skill acquisition for self-reliance and economic empowerment.

Speaking at the Turn Point program held at the College of Health Sciences in Makurdi, he noted that 95% of what is taught should focus on practical skills rather than merely obtaining certificates. Dr.

Asemakaha highlighted the pressing issue of unemployment in Benue, where 18,000 to 25,000 graduates are produced annually, yet job opportunities remain insufficient, with unemployment figures in the state reaching 1.7 million. He pointed out that 40% of job opportunities in the state are filled by individuals from outside Benue, underscoring the urgent need for local students to acquire relevant skills.

He encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship and warned against the financial burden on parents, urging them to make strategic choices for their futures.
