Wike's Aide Critiques Makinde Over Running Mate Choice

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to Nyesom Wike, criticized Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), for choosing Lawal Daura as his running mate. Olayinka questioned Makinde's decision, pointing out that Daura was previously sacked by former Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on August 7, 2018, due to his involvement in an unauthorized siege of the National Assembly by security operatives.

Olayinka referenced Daura's actions as Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS) under President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, stating that Osinbajo intervened to prevent Daura from sacking the National Assembly. Olayinka's remarks were made via the social media platform 𝕏, where he suggested that Makinde's choice reflects a shared alignment with Daura's controversial past.
