Makinde Selects Lawal Daura as Running Mate for 2027

Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), has announced Lawal Daura as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election. Daura served as the Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS) from 2015 to 2018 and was chosen to tackle Nigeria's security issues.

The announcement was made during the APM national convention at Rilwan Adamu Square in Bauchi on Thursday. According to Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde's selection of Daura is a strategic move to address the country's security challenges.

Makinde, who was formally elected as the APM presidential candidate at the convention, expressed his commitment to collaborating with like-minded politicians to improve Nigeria. He also stated his readiness to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty, attributing the worsening situation to poorly implemented policies over the past three years.

The choice of Bauchi for the convention venue was significant, being the home state of Nigeria’s first Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
