Bishops Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Election

President Bola Tinubu has received the endorsement of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) for a second term in the 2027 presidential election. The announcement was made by the President-General of the CBCN, Archbishop Leonard Bature Kawas, during the conference’s 2026 synod on Wednesday.

Kawas stated that the endorsement reflects the group's assessment of Tinubu's administration and his actions in support of Christians. He emphasized that the CBCN would continue to support Tinubu as long as he remains president.

The conference expressed appreciation for Tinubu's appointments and his support for the emergence of Christian governors in Nigeria. Kawas also noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) appointed a born-again Christian as its national leader.

The bishops intend to support Tinubu not only politically but also through prayers and advocacy for beneficial policies. This endorsement comes amid previous disagreements between Tinubu's administration and some Christian leaders regarding Nigeria's economy and security challenges.
