Charismatic Bishops Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Election

The Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. This announcement was made by the President-General of the conference, Archbishop Leonard Bature Kawas, during the organization's 2026 synod.

Kawas stated that the endorsement was based on their assessment of Tinubu's administration, highlighting that he has not demonstrated nepotism in his appointments, despite the Muslim-Muslim ticket he ran on in the 2023 presidential election. He praised Tinubu for supporting the emergence of Christian governors and for appointing a born-again Christian as the national leader of the All Progressives Congress.

The bishops committed to supporting Tinubu through prayers and advocacy for his development programs. Kawas also mentioned that Tinubu had responded to their call for engagement with U.S.

President Donald Trump regarding insecurity in Nigeria and urged the Federal Government to include religious leaders in political appointments. Dignitaries present included Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and Minister of Information Mohammed Idris.
