George Urges Tinubu to Uphold Democracy After Osun Win

Olabode George, the former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), called on President Bola Tinubu to uphold democratic principles and ensure that every qualified Nigerian can contest elections freely, particularly in light of the recent Osun State governorship election. Following Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory, George described the outcome as a significant affirmation of the electorate's power and the necessity for the will of the people to prevail.

He congratulated Adeleke on his re-election and praised the peaceful conduct of the election, stating it offered vital lessons for Nigeria’s democracy ahead of the 2027 elections. George emphasized that political influence and resources do not guarantee ownership of the people's mandate, highlighting that the electorate made their choice despite the presence of influential members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He urged Tinubu to assess the conduct of his administration's members to strengthen public confidence in government.
