Borno Civil Servants Celebrate Leave Grants and Benefits

Civil servants across Borno State expressed jubilation after the payment of leave grants and three years of promotional benefits commenced, following a directive from Governor Babagana Umara Zulum. The payments began on Thursday and continued through the weekend, as a result of Zulum's directive for the immediate settlement of outstanding entitlements.

This approval was granted during a meeting on Monday between Governor Zulum and the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE). Zulum instructed the immediate implementation of promotional benefits for civil servants for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025, along with the payment of leave grants for the 2025 session.

Additionally, a review of salary arrears for secondary and tertiary education staff is planned for implementation by September 2026. Since taking office in 2019, Zulum has prioritized the welfare of civil servants and retirees, implementing various measures to enhance their wellbeing.
